Consultancy and Advice
We are able to advise and make recommendations on the condition of single items or complete collections and give conservation and restoration advice. We do not, however, provide valuations.

Conservation
We specialise in conserving and cleaning existing gilded finishes. We also remove over-layers of gilding and paint to reveal original gilded surfaces.

Restoration
We have a team of highly trained carvers and gilders, specialising in the design and replacement of missing elements and re-instating missing and damaged gessowork and gilding.

Reports
On request, written and photographic reports can be produced, following the complete restoration process.

Reproductions
We can make exact copies of existing objects or produce reproductions from photographs or drawings. We are able to design items to fit in with any historic period. All our reproductions are hand carved and water gilt in 23¼ carat gold leaf.

Why Choose Us?
Our gilders have a great deal of varied experience conserving and restoring every kind of gilt gesso surface likely to be found. Our carvers serve a 5 year apprenticeship in wood and gesso carving and also conservation.

One of our main strengths is attention to detail. Any missing carved elements can be replaced, in wood, as they were originally made. Gesso is applied to the wood which is carefully modelled and re-carved, thus sharpening the outline and decorating the surface with shallow veins prior to gilding. Many other workshops carry out repairs using fillers and resins and do not re-carve any detail after gesso is applied.
